We are seeking a hand therapist (OT or PT) to work in our newly established hand therapy clinic in Wanganui. The vacancy starts in March 2012, to cover maternity leave, with the potential of becoming a permanent position. Flexible part-time hours are available, with the possibility of full-time work.

We offer a competitive salary package, with professional development allowances. Associate hand therapists are welcome to apply as we have two registered hand therapists available to provide supervision.

Wanganui is a beautiful river city with plenty of sports and outdoor pursuit opportunities locally; as well as skiing, surfing and city breaks within two hours drive.

We are looking for friendly well motivated physiotherapist/Hand Therapist to work alongside two experienced senior physiotherapists. The hours are flexible, with part-time building into a potential full time position.

We have weekly in-service education with support for on-going post graduate training and professional development.  All staff here has post graduate qualifications in a variety of areas: Sports Medicine, Acupuncture and Hand Therapy.

You will be offered the opportunity to apply your strong clinical leadership, teaching and development skills and put best practice into place in order to assist in building a highly functional and effective hand therapy team. Hand Therapy services are provided across 3 sites and whilst this role is based in Wellington, there will be a requirement to provide clinical leadership and support across all 3 sites.
To work effectively at the level we expect, you will need at least 5 years’ experience working as a registered hand therapist. You will be known by others as being an effective communicator, problem solver and educator. Your abilities in forward thinking and succession planning will also be put to good use in this role. Experience in developing competency frameworks and standards of practice would be an added bonus.
