About

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION ARE:

To advance the specialty of Hand Therapy.

To promote expertise in the treatment of hand and upper limb conditions by therapists.

To encourage interchange of techniques and ideas by both occupational therapists and physiotherapists working in this field.

To organise seminars and meetings to educate and inform those interested in hand therapy.

To foster a link between Hand Therapy New Zealand and the New Zealand Society for Surgery of the Hand.

To circulate a regular newsletter informing of recent advances both in New Zealand and Internationally.

To promote and facilitate the advancement of education in the field of Hand Therapy.

To support undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes in Hand Therapy.

To advance recognition of and interest in Hand Therapy by other health professionals.

To promote and support the interests of members of the group.

To do such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of these objectives.

Kelly Davison

Graduated in 1992 & since then has worked in hospital & private practice in the areas of musculoskeletal & hand therapy. Holds a post graduate diploma in Manipulative Therapy. Currently working in a specialist hand & upper limb clinic on the North Shore

Laura Lyons

Laura graduated as a Physiotherapist from AUT in 2010. From here she lived in Sydney and worked within the hospital setting predominantly in the ICU setting which formed in interest in hands. Laura completed her HAUL course in 2012, her Post Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation in 2014. She has worked in private practice since 2013.

Kate Ward

Graduated in 2005 with a Bsc(Hons)Physiotherapy through Coventry University. Went on to work in the orthopaedic and musculoskeletal fields in England and here in New Zealand. In 2011 developed a specialist interest in the upper limb while working within the Hand Therapy, Burns and Scar Management Service at Waikato Hospital. Became a Registered Hand Therapist before moving into private practice working at Cambridge Hand Therapy and more recently Anglesea Clinic Hand Therapy. Further advanced her skills through completion of her Clinic Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from AUT.

The Administrative Assistant provides administration services and co-ordinates membership for the Association. This position acts as a liaison with members, potential members, external clients and related organisations.
